Talkspace has very few providers and gives me providers that specialize in issues completely unrelated to mine. All the providers seem to have joined "a few months ago" which tells me they have lots of turnover. I found one that I thought was a good fit and she replied that Talkspace had neglected to record her unavailability. When I try to spin the wheel to get a new one a message tells me that if I try to spin again I won't be able to select the ones on display, like I'm being penalized for trying to find the best fit. Also, do they review the providers at all? A quick google search reveals complaints and lots of bad ratings. Lastly, when I cancelled, they make you select an reason for cancelling and the options you can choose from have nothing to do with their service sucking. Fail.
I signed up for one month. The therapist didn't show up 3 times out of 4. I have contacted support and they haven't replied either.

Talkspace was a bad experience for me. My therapist was unresponsive and disinterred, mostly giving me short, one-sentence answers. At the start he had promised to be very engaging. He spoke of an in-depth assessment that he would do, which would take a whole two weeks. Nothing came of it. I cancelled and had to lose some of my money as a result. I still like the idea of therapy by text, but I'll be looking elsewhere for another provider.
What experience? I spoke to no one!!! I kept getting messages that I would speak to someone at 8PM when I sent a message at 10:45AM! Well at 8PM I opened my laptop to find the counselor had texted me at 7:41PM and when I answered I got another message that I wouldn’t hear from them until 4PM the next day!! What kind of mental health service is this??? I lodged a complaint with my HR. This is the kind of stupidity that can send someone into a tailspin!!! Argh!!!
This company is a scam and should be prevented from ripping you off. They took $160 of my money and gave NOTHING in return.
Paid $260 for messaging-only service but was ignored by not one, but TWO therapists in a row. In a dark time when I really needed mental support, they were not there for me.
Customer support was fast but also automated and the refund is based on how long you have had the service, so I only was refunded $190. If you want to dispute this refund, response times could take up to 21 days. Since lack of response was my reason to leave initially, I just took the $190 and left.
I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NEVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT.
I got matched with a therapist, paid $260, and then couldn’t log in to my account, was told my email didn’t exists. There’s no way to call support, I emailed them, it took them four days to get back to me, they basically said they couldn’t help me. After three more weeks of back and forth I finally got a refund. They said my account was cancelled, then I got charged the next month, $260. Currently redoing this process all over again. Can’t wait for someone to email me back in about twenty years! The worst.

I received EAP “sessions” through my job and signed up for them during a health crisis I was having (had extensive medical testing coming up in a month and wanted support before that.) Took 2 weeks to match me with anyone, the hour before of my appt, the therapist said my benefit was “text only”
Sessions. No one told me this when I signed up. I asked how much for live sessions and WITH my $30 co pay and good insurance, they quoted me $360 a month to have 30 minute sessions. ($90 a session with insurance??— how??) and then when I finally got a “10 minute meet and greet” with therapist he wanted me to complete useless assessment after useless assessment that I had already completed. I got very little in terms of communication from therapist and talkspace. They kept asking me for a credit card despite my “6 text based session” benefit, I realized it must be a scam. If you have serious mental health issues, this is dangerous. I don’t see how they still operate in these unethical ways.
None of the interactions were about client care, only what money you were going to pay them to take questionnaires you can find for free, and ZERO strategies to try for anxiety. What a joke.
Don’t waste your time. I tried two therapists and two months of therapy and it was pointless. They didn’t really tell me anything at all. Wasn’t helpful, just a waste of money. Can get more advice from google to be honest. Just felt more angry and upset after talking with them because it just wasn’t helpful at all.
Paid up front for a month and absolutely no service. Tried changing therapist twice and still no response. Requested a full refund and cancelled subscription. After reading the reviews- I will be reporting to the attorney general and Federal Trade Commission.
I've been trying to cancel my subscription for two months. They charged me both times for full amounts. No number or anything to call to address the problem. Got an email to process a partial refund for just the most recent payment, not even back to when I first originally cancelled my subscription.
This company is a total sham. I paid $180 for my first month. They promise back and forth communication 5 days a week. In 10 days, I got only two messages, both form messages, and one with a typo promising they'd get back to me later. They make it easy to get a partial refund--I got $90 back. Read their reviews from their employees. They all say it used to be a good company but has changed in the last year. Now they pay their therapists crap and overload them with clients. They don't care that I got a refund. They still get $90 and I get absolutely nothing but a few spam emails from them and an app I now need to delete. It's shocking they haven't been sued yet.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! From my personal experience this is a horribly run company that should be ashamed of its practices. How on earth a company can be in business for NINE+ years and not even provide basic chat is beyond me-a mental health provider not even offering speedy, proper communication - even my website host company has chat.
My therapist is so disappointed with them she is leaving the platform-even she can't properly communicate with them and has to send an email and wait and wait and wait for a response. They have caused me so much stress, frustration, and outright anger. They take FOREVER to address issues and do a pitiful job of managing expectations; the user experience is less than desirable. The DMV has better customer service than they do. Seriously, keep looking at other apps/resources. You will be let down if you use these guys.
EDIT: I just went to the DMV- received awesome service. If the DMV can provide great service, TalkSpace has ZERO excuse.
